The Grand Canyon 2022 Tour was so much fun that we are planning another tour to Northern Arizona. Join us on a PCA-SAR 4 day 3 night Tour to Clarksdale/Cottonwood, Arizona.  We plan to leave Tucson Thursday May 25th and return on Sunday May 28th.  Our first stop will be Montezuma Castle National Monument. After exploring the castle and visitors center we will continue on to Cottonwood.  We will stay at the Tavern Hotel in Cottonwood.  Room rates are $245 - $385 per night.  Deluxe King for the 3 nights total is $876.01 (includes tax).  48 hour cancelation policy.   After settling in our rooms on Thursday we will enjoy a welcome drink and dinner at The Tavern Grille Restaurant.

On Friday we will explore the many things that Cottonwood and Jerome have to offer.  We will start off the morning with a drive to Jerome. The drive from Cottonwood to Jerome is a bit challenging at times for the driver, since there are several places on this windy road with switchbacks and there are no guardrails.  No problem for us.  After returning to Cottonwood we will explore the area.  Dinner will be at Nic’s Italian Steak & Crab House.

On Saturday we will explore the Clarksdale area. We will visit The Southwest Wine Center at Yavapai College.  It is a premier wine industry and community resource, offering a comprehensive hands-on education from vineyard-to-bottle with programs in enology, viticulture and business/entrepreneurship through its estate vineyard, teaching winery, fully-operational tasting room, and region-wide wine industry research epicenter. The cost is $12 for a flight of 5 wines. 

We will proceed to the Verde Canyon Railroad Depot where we are able to enjoy a railtastic lunch prepared to your liking at the Copper Spike Café. The cafe has a varied menu of regional favorites, many prepared with locally grown and sourced ingredients. There is an entree to suit everyone’s taste, from the light eater to one with a heartier appetite, from a carnivore to a vegan. Lunches may be enjoyed in our outdoor dining area or carried aboard the train. Also available are the John Bell Museum and the Boxcar Gift Store. 

At 5:30 pm we will board the Verde Canyon Railroad for the “Grape Train Escape”.  While aboard the “Grape Train Escape,” passengers will be served a sampling of select wines accompanied by individually packaged, freshly-made snacks served at our table. The Grape Train Escape features exclusive first-class accommodations, lavishing passengers with luxurious style and attentive beverage service right to your seat. Adjoining open-air cars share the lush riparian scenery of summer: canopies of green Cottonwoods, moody monsoon afternoons and deep crimson cliffs. These popular Verde Canyon Railroad wine-tasting events depart at 5:30 pm and return at 9:30 pm. Spacious living room-style seating near panoramic windows highlights this scenic excursion. Full bar service is available in every car. Bottled water is provided throughout the trip. All seating cars connect to open-air viewing platforms.
